Beijing, China's
government called on all
parties to remain calm,
exercise restraint and avoid escalation
of tensions on the Korean peninsula. It is delivered ahead of a planned rocket launch North Korea (Korea).
"We urge relevant parties to keep calm, exercise restraint and avoid escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin China.
The announcement came after the U.S. State Department urged China to press North Korea to refrain from rocket launch.
North Korean government has announced plans to launch a rocket that will carry the satellite space is between 12 and 16 April. The launch of the rocket in order to commemorate the 100 th birth anniversary of late North Korean founder Kim Il-Sung.
U.S. and other countries regard the rocket launch as a disguised missile test. But the government insists that North Korea's rocket launch is solely for peaceful space project.
Over the North's plan, South Korea (ROK) has vowed to shoot down North Korean rocket when it comes to targeting the territory of the country. Japan also has threatened to do the same.
