97 year old grandfather received a master's degree today after
completing a clinical science lectures at the universities of Australia,
Southern Cross University. He was touted as the world's oldest graduate.
Previously, Allan Stewart, who was born on March 7, 1915 in Sydney, Australia, has become the world record holder Guinness World Records as the oldest graduate. Stewart won the record when he graduated from law school in 2006 at the age of 91 years!
Clinical science master's degree earned this time is a fourth degree for the great-grandfather. Stewart was first out of college in the 1930's ago with a bachelor's degree in dentistry.
For years Stewart's career as a dentist. That's when Stewart became Doctor of Dental Surgery after completing his studies and earned a scholarship to go back a second time. At the age of 80-something years, Stewart decided to take the law school in order to keep your brain active.
Even when Stewart approached the age of 90 years, he thought to take additional courses to be graduating from college much faster.
"I took extra courses and summer courses successfully completed a six-year period in four and a half years, graduating in 2006," said Stewart.
To continue to hone his brain, Stewart often read medical books and crime novels and exercising bridge. Meanwhile, to maintain his fitness, great grandfather was walking every day and meditate regularly.
In 2009, Stewart returned to school to study clinical science, the recognition of a "serious challenge". Still, she enjoyed it and even encourage the elderly to go back to college.
"People should not use the excuse 'I'm too old to learn'. It's never too late to expand your mind, meet new friends and challenge yourself to achieve something worthwhile," said Stewart.
Above all it's accomplishments, Stewart remained humble. "Oh, it's nothing, I just be good genes," he said modestly.
Stewart, who has six children, when it has been blessed with 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
