This criticism followed a ceremonial burning of the Koran that was held outside the church Jones Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday, April 28 pm local time. At that time, Jones led a number of copies of the Koran burning and a picture called the Prophet Muhammad.
About 20 people attended the ceremony. The action was even recorded and uploaded to video sharing site YouTube by a group of supporters of Jones, "Stand Up America Now."
In the action, Jones urged the release of Youcef Nadarkhani, the Iranian minister who is currently jailed on charges of apostasy because of change of religion from Islam to Christianity.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the burning of the Koran are the result of "Islam phobia" in the Western world. Affirmed the ministry, the world waiting for a quick response, serious and decisive action from the U.S. government on this so it will not happen again.
Iran ministry stressed, burning the Koran "is undoubtedly a cause of religious hatred and would trigger outrage across the Muslim world."
Jones had become the global coverage by recording the action on the March 2011 burning of the Koran ago. Jones's action infuriated the Muslim world, particularly in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of 12 people.
