Hundreds of Protesters accuse NATO Afghanistan Kills 4 Children
Kabul, Afghanistan Hundreds of people protested in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan. They accused NATO forces have killed four children when a firefight with insurgents in the city.
In this action, the demonstrators are carrying the bodies of four children aged 8 years to 12 years. They blocked the highway linking Kabul-Kandahar. Mass was chanted anti-American.
Spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Brian Badura said initial reports said the children were killed by rebel gunfire.
"We knew about the incident in southern Afghanistan yesterday. Local Afghan National Police (Local Afghan Police) and his advisers met with a coalition of center local villagers when they were attacked by the rebels," said Badura as reported by AFP on Tuesday (05/01/2012).

"Initial reports indicate there are a number of children killed and injured by the rebels. Children were evacuated by coalition forces to a medical facility for treatment," he added.
Vice governor of Zabul Province, Mohammad January Rasoulyar said the children were killed when armed clashes between Taliban militants and Afghan security forces and ISAF in Shahjoy, Kandahar on Monday, April 30 yesterday.
According Rasoulyar, a shootout occurred when the troops who were holding a meeting with local community leaders were attacked by insurgents. "ISAF and Afghan forces also returned fire. There was a firefight that killed four children and several other children were wounded. Today the people protesting the death of these children," said Rasoulyar told AFP.
According to Afghan police, several hundred people participated in the protests. The action was so far peaceful.
