Russian S-400 battalion Commenced operations in Kaliningrad



MOSCOW, one battalion of the missile defense system S-400 air antiserangan Triumf, has begun operating in the Russian enclave Kaliningrad region, which lies in the middle of the Baltic states members of NATO. Defense system is part of the Russian Baltic Sea Fleet.

This is the third battalion S-400 operated by the Russian Armed Forces. Previous two battalions stationed around the capital city of Moscow.

Mid-March, the Russian Air Force Chief of Staff Major General Viktor Bondarev said, one more battalion is in the process of placing in Nakhodka, on Russia's far east. Russia plans to have 28 regimental S-400, which each have two battalions, in 2020.


The latest air defense systems will be deployed in the region and the maritime border with another country.

S-400 missile system is a surface-to-air medium-range distance, which is designed to intercept all forms of threat of air strikes from manned aircraft, unmanned aircraft, as well as cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Mencapi missile firing range of 400 kilometers and an altitude of 30 kilometers.

Russia saying it will not sell S-400 systems to other countries.
