TEHRAN - Iranian Army Commander Brigadier
General (Brig) Ahmadreza Pourdastan said, if the disputed island of Abu Musa settled through diplomatic
efforts fail then it is ready to
fight.
"Iran's armed forces are ready to protect the territorial sovereignty of the island of Abu Musa," said Army Commander Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan Iran, Mehr reported.
Brigadier General Pourdastan statement to the fore after the earlier, Foreign Minister of the Gulf States issued a joint statement, criticized President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to the island of Abu Musa. The island is still a dispute between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In fact, in a statement the foreign ministers of the Gulf States were also given full support to the UAE. So far, the UAE claims that the island of Abu Musa is still included in its territory.
