Caracas, Costa Rica A diplomat who was kidnapped in Venezuela over the weekend,
has now been released and is in good condition.
"Thanks to the investigation and police pressure, we get the freedom diplomat Costa Rica," said Venezuelan Interior Minister Tareck El Aissami via Twitter as quoted by AFP news agency on Tuesday (10/04/2012). He promised to immediately provide information about the details of the release operation.
"He's in good physical condition, under police protection and on the way met with his family," added El Aissami.
The diplomat, Guillermo Cholele gunmen kidnapped on Sunday, April 8 pm local time when he returned to his home in La Urbina, middle-class area in the east of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Cholele served as trade attache at the Embassy of Costa Rica in Caracas.
It is known that these days many cases of kidnapping diplomat in several countries of Latin America. Earlier this year, Ambassador of Mexico and his wife kidnapped and robbed by armed groups, but fortunately they survived. Then military attache Bolivia and Vietnam Ambassador's son had also been kidnapped.
Acts of kidnapping in Venezuela is often profitable for the perpetrators because the government did not conduct a thorough legal investigation. Abduction cases are usually considered complete after the family or relatives paid a ransom to the perpetrators.
