MOGADISHU, At least 12 people were killed in bomb attack aimed at troops in Somalia
and Ethiopia in a busy market town of Baidoa, southern Somalia on Monday (09/04/2012).
This bombing is one of the two largest attack occurred in that country in the
past week.
Abdifatah Mohamed Ibrahim, the governor of Bay region tersbeut ensure that the death toll, coupled with more than 30 people were injured.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for this bombing. "We put a bomb remotely in Baidoa market. Our troops attacked Somalia and Ethiopia. About three people were killed," said Sheikh Abu Musab Abdiasis, military spokesman of Al-Shabaab was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.
Last Wednesday, a suicide bombing by a woman killed six people, including two high-ranking sports, the theater near the presidential palace in Mogadishu. Meanwhile, Monday's attack was the deadliest of Al-Shabaab militants from Somalia and Ethiopia forces control Baidoa, about 250 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu in February.
"When we go shopping, all of a sudden we heard an explosion. I counted 10 dead civilians and more than 30 people were injured," said Shukri Hussein
a mother of five children, told Reuters by telephone from Baidoa market.
Ali Aden, a nurse at the hospital Baidoa, said it had received 35 injured civilians.
