Yemen's airport was closed after the attack

Yemeni Air Force on Saturday (7/4) to attack and shut down the largest airport in the capital, Sanaa, in protest at the sacking of their commander.

Gen. Mohammad Saleh al-Ahmar was removed from his post as Chief of Staff of the Air Force on Friday.

"None of the planes taking off or landing since the army issued a threat on Friday night," said a Yemeni source.

He added the troops surrounded the airport and they were from the tribe of Hamdan in support of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Forces loyal to Gen. al-Ahmar reportedly blocked roads to the airport.
Military overhaul

Gen. Mohammad Saleh al-Ahmar is a person close to the former president. He refused to resign after dismissed by the President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi.
