WASHINGTON - President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama said he was willing to do anything to prevent the recurrence of the Holocaust in the future. At the same time too, Obama threw a condemnation of Iran and Syria.
"National sovereignty is not a license to carry out massacres against the people. Prevention of acts of genocide is our main goal," said President Barack Obama.
Obama's remarks were delivered in commemoration of the Holocaust at the Holocaust Memorial museum in Washington, USA. Known as the Holocaust of Nazi oppression and genocide against the Jews, during World War II.
In the speech, Obama also touched on the ruling regime in Iran and Syria are trying to oppress the people judged in his own country. President Obama even asserted, the regime in both countries have committed human rights abuses, atrocities and genocide.
For that reason Obama also announced that the U.S. will impose additional sanctions on Iran and Syria.
"I have signed an executive order that would give the authority to impose new sanctions on Iran and Syria," said President Obama.
Meanwhile, Obama also reiterated in his statement, although there are differences of opinion with Israel in dealing with Iran's nuclear program, the U.S. will remain in Israel.
"I reiterate that the U.S. will always be on the side of Israel. I have been sworn in this respect. I will always remember the statement of a Jewish citizen who said that Israel is the only Jewish state we have," he added.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is known as an opponent of the history of the Holocaust by calling it as part of a colonialist agenda. Ahmadinejad said the Holocaust never actually happened and this is just one Israeli attempt to suppress the Palestinians.
