Cartagena - Opening of the American Summit in Cartagena, Colombia, feared to be
filled with violence. Four bombs exploded reported in Cartagena and Bogota.
Two small bombs reportedly exploded with a force in Cartagena, a few hours before the President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama arrived at the location of the meeting.
While two other bombs exploded near the U.S. Embassy in Bogota.
"The blast occurred near a bus terminal and near the supermarket. No one was killed. No damage at all," said the Colombian Police Chief Gen. Rodolfo Palomino.
Until now not known who the perpetrators of the bombings. But the Bogota and other cities, often hit by insurgent attacks since decades ago.
Rebel Revolutionary Colombia (FARC) rebel group which is the longest fought by the government. They carry out attacks since 1964 ago and is believed to have nine thousand insurgents who were hiding in the mountains and forests.
While American Summit will take place over two days in Cartagena. Through this summit, the U.S. and Latin American countries will discuss the pros and cons of legalizing drugs. In addition they will also talk about Cuba that was never included in this summit.
